Hair loss. What is it, causes and treatment

What is pathological hair loss or hair loss conditions that need treatment

Hair grows differently on the skin and in different areas, and each hair has a life cycle that begins with growth from the hair follicle and grows until it reaches a certain length, then the length is fixed for a while, and then the hair falls out.

The hair growth cycle consists of three main stages, namely:

  • The growth phase, in which the length of the hair increases.
  • The stabilization phase, in which the rate of hair building decreases until stability.
  • The separation stage, in which the hair separates from the hair follicle while another hair grows from the hair follicle.

And because every hair on your body has a growth cycle and will reach at some point to fall out, there are a number of hair falling out daily naturally. This hair has reached the stage of its life to the stage of falling out after a period of steady growth and before that a period of growth for a certain length.

Hair loss from the scalp:

The scalp grows from about 100 thousand to 150 thousand hairs on average, and the normal rate of hair loss per day is 100 hairs.

It means that 100 hairs fall out throughout the day, whether with styling, after a shower or on the pillow, this is normal. It is a normal rate of hair loss and does not need any treatment and you do not need to worry about it.

But in the event that hair loss is more than 100 hairs a day, this means that the rate of hair loss exceeds the normal rate. It has become high or pathological and requires treatment

Therefore, it is necessary first to research the causes and write them on a paper to work on treating those causes, whether alone or with the help of a doctor or pharmacist experienced in hair problems.

Causes of hair loss

The first step to a successful treatment of the problem of hair loss is to find out the real reasons that were the cause of the increased rate of hair loss during this period

  • Genetic hair loss: it is defined by The Shape of voids in the scalp or hairless areas that have increased voids. There is more than one form of genetic hair loss for men and there is also a distinctive form of genetic hair loss for women
  • Infection in the scalp: infection in the scalp can be fungal or bacterial and is usually known from the presence of inflammation, itching, dandruff or pain in the scalp.
  • Use thermal styling tools frequently.
  • Straightening the hair with harmful substances that affect the hair follicle.
  • Medications that cause hair loss as one of its side effects because they cause disorders in hair growth and life cycle, such as pressure medications, sugar, cholesterol, heart, acne, and any medications that contain hormones such as birth control pills and others.
  • Traumas, bruises and injuries of the scalp.
  • Pregnancy, childbirth, lactation.
  • Some diseases such as diabetes, polycystic ovaries, obesity, lack of thyroid secretions, deep grains in the scalp, as well as immune diseases and cancer.

Hair loss treatment

Treatment of the problem of hair loss is a combination between the treatment of the problem that led to hair loss with the nutrition and strengthening of hair follicles:

  • First.first. Treatment of hair weakness, hair follicle weakness, hair nutrition . The aim is to strengthen the existing hair and keep it from falling out and grow new hair instead of the hair that has fallen out. This type of treatment is used for all cases of hair loss.
  • Secondly. Treatment of the cause that led to hair loss and there are some reasons that may not be dealt with.

Treating the cause is very important and needs to consult a doctor for accurate diagnosis and start strong steps to treat the cause.

  • If the cause is genetic, then we rely only on the nutrition and strengthening of the hair follicle, in order to keep the hair from falling out by intensifying the nutrition of the hair and increasing the size of the hair follicle to be fixed in the scalp.
  • If the problem causing hair loss is a psychological problem, we need to seek the help of a psychotherapist with the first treatment to nourish the hair and maintain the strength of the hair follicle.
  • If the problem is related to an imbalance of hormones or hormone medications, then you should consult a gynecologist, an internist, or an endocrinologist with the first treatment to nourish the hair and strengthen the hair follicle.
  • Thus, with any case of hair loss, you must work to solve the problem that caused the hair loss with a remedy to nourish and strengthen the hair follicles.

I advise everyone who suffers from the problem to start it to protect the hair from falling out, with a doctor's consultation to treat the cause that led to hair loss.

  • Hair nutrition is carried out by means of fine capillaries that nourish cells with the ability to divide in the hair follicle and these cells, when they divide and multiply, form hair and increase the size of the hair follicle and thus maintain the hair and its stability in the scalp.
  • To properly nourish the hair, we rely on active substances that increase the blood supply to the hair and at the same time the blood is a carrier of elements and vitamins that nourish the hair.
  • To increase the blood supply to the hair, we rely on many active substances such as minoxidil, ridencil, procapil, bicapil, nicotine, caffeine, mint, rosemary and other methods such as laser cap and the use of derma roller.
  • To nourish the hair, we rely on providing all the nutrients and vitamins that the hair follicle cells need for division and hair formation, such as biotin, vitamin B group, vitamins A, C, D, E, omega-3, zinc, selenium and iron elements, and there are other ways to nourish the hair, such as plasma injection and mesotherapy.
  • As for the products available in pharmacies and beauty care stores to nourish and strengthen the hair follicle and thus stop hair loss, there are many products in which the active substances differ, but their effect varies depending on the strength of the active substances in performing their role. But usually one way of working is to increase the blood supply to the hair follicle and provide the nutrients, elements and vitamins that the hair follicle needs to form hair.
